.severed.

tear away the pieces of sinew
from the pieces of me
unclothe the pieces of my pieces
and i’ll roam
brooklyn to broadway

losing myself
in the ridiculous
tangerine greens
reds and blues
of neon city.
climbing to the top
of the rock
hugging the possible
crash;
imaginary flight
into that vast expanse
of cold concrete
beneath.

spread my everything thin
Brownstone[d] upon this urban sprawl
degrees & memories
burned as effigies
to the god of forlorn

‘cause
something
must be greater
than my lonesome.

hey new york city
it’s me!
jaywalking across
this manhattan conspiracy.

tear away the pieces of sinew
from the pieces of me
unclothe the pieces of my pieces
echoed in 3 inches of leather ascension
click clacking the sidewalk gossip.

yes new york
city of wraiths
hang upside down
that i might have these feet
dipped in sky
locs wet in prisms of moon
emanating from
the belly of the Hudson

beloved
tear away these pieces
of my humanity
i'd rather not feel.
